Menopause - The Musical

This was our third and final Vegas show.  We actually booked it for lack of any other shows on during the dates we were there, but it was also something that we thought could be a bit humorous….. and it was.  The show is basically 4 different types of women all going through “The Change of Life” through song, dance and laughter.

Easily recognisable songs had their lyrics manipulated to fit in with their stories - some with great success, but some seemed like a desperate push for the song to fit.

We were very lucky because not only did we have seats in the front row, we also had 6 non English speaking people sitting behind us and the one person who did understand what the hell was going on was translating the show for the others.

And no amount of the turn and look technique or the finger to the lips signalling that they are being too loud or the old "would you please stop talking" was working.

This didn’t bother Chris at all because she was already deafened by the raucous hyena laugh of the woman next to her who laughed before, during and after every joke - whether it was funny or not.  She was preempting the jokes, nodding, smiling and screeching in solidarity at what the ladies on stage were describing as their menopausal symptoms.

There was thigh slapping and whooping and at one point I think I might of heard  a "can I get an amen"!!!

Perhaps because The Change is something that we are yet to experience
or perhaps because the stars of the show were moving their own props on and off stage

or perhaps because one of the four women sang off tune and reminded us of that girl we used to go to school with who used to high kick her way down the corridor just because she could

but it wasn’t my favourite show.  Sure there were some laughs, but for me it was more akin to a  high school production rather than a Las Vegas show.
