Yertle The Turtle

Whilst sitting on our balcony  Chris noticed something in the water.

"What was that?" she called out in a slightly panicked was that a shark type of way.

"Where?  What?" Marie and I replied, not seeing what she had seen.

"Just there, I think that paddler is heading towards it.  I hope it wasn't a shark."

My guess is that most of the people in the bay would be hoping it wasn't a shark, including me who was 500 metres away and 7 floors up!

But bless its heart..... it was a turtle, just minding its own business, bobbing up and down amongst the people.  Once he came up we could see him as plain as day.

Just a relaxing breaststroke.

We thought this outrigger was heading out to have a look at him, but they paddled straight past it, or over it.

He hung around in the same area for about an hour until we got sick of watching him.

Yertle the Turtle was one of my favourite books to read as a kid, and kinda still it!  You should, as Molly would say, do yourself a favour and check it out.  You should find it in all good book stores, your kid's bookshelf, the local library or you could probably download it.

You're welcome.
